Knowledge repository system
The University Knowledge Repository system was set up to store, organize and publish the information produced in the university at http://dspace.tbzmed.ac.ir. To launch this system by studying and evaluating the existing software, Dspace open source software version 6.2 was used. This software was created by MIT University in collaboration with HP in 2002 to publish the information produced in this university and Under the BSD open source license, it was possible for everyone to use and change. Currently, many universities around the world use this system and various individuals and institutions are responsible for its development. The evaluation, selection, installation, localization, adding Persian facilities and launching this system was performed by Dr. Shafi Habibi and in cooperation with the IT management.
The articles produced by the faculty members of the university have been entered in three databases: Pubmed, Web of science and Scopus. Dissertations will be entered in full text in this system and will be available. Additionally, for the possibility of accessing and entering referral management software such as Endnote through Google Scholar, the dissertation metadata information will be entered in both Persian and English. This will facilitate the possibility of citing professors' dissertations. Moreover, with the entry of dissertations in this system, there will be no need to print and bind.
In future knowledge repository development programs, the University Data Repository will be created on the same system and research data will be recorded and uploaded on it.
Due to the fact that in the package of scientific authority of the plan for the transformation of education in medical sciences, universities are required to create a repository system. In this system, collections related to learning and educational resources (Learning objects) to load resources such as student assignments in PowerPoint formats and so on will be created.
The installation of this system was performed by Dr. Shafi Habibi, a specialist in health information management, and with the cooperation and participation of Dr. Taha Samad Soltani from the Department of Health Information Technology, Statistics and Information Technology Management, and Ms. Nasrin Makani from the Central Library.
